HCNSW joins Research4Me Tribe

Research4Me and Health Consumers NSW (HCNSW) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalise our shared commitment to increasing consumer engagement and involvement in health and medical research, and further exploring how we can advance this cause.

The informal relationship between Research4Me and HCNSW began a couple of years ago when we co-hosted a workshop to explore the health consumer perspective on the challenges and enablers of getting involved in research (access the Report here). Since then, we have co-presented at a number of events, and sought opportunities to advance each other’s objectives together.

Research4Me is committed to transparency with its community about the relationships we have with organisations, and the source of opportunities and information we share. This MOU is therefore an important step forward for formalising the informal collaborative relationship we have enjoyed with HCNSW the past couple of years, and in enabling us to build on this relationship and build trust with our community.

The MOU also represents a growing of our Tribe of consumer organisations and research-active active organisations willing to public demonstrate their commitment to increasing consumer engagement and involvement in health and medical research. We see our Tribe as a platform for building momentum, collaboration and encouraging others down the path to greater community involvement in research, and are delighted HCNSW are part of it.

We look forward to seeing what this MOU can deliver for the patients, families and members of the public needing better health solutions, through advocacy and support for increased consumer involvement in research.

Contact us if your organisation shares a common interest in this area and would like to be recognised as part of our Tribe committed to advancing public, patient and carer involvement in research. More information is also available here.
